That’s all it takes to complete the Safe Motherhood Week survey – http://safemotherhoodweeksurvey.org
By getting 5000 women to fill in the survey, the team at Safe Motherhood Week believes that it will have a good starting point in terms of identifying what needs to change in order to improve the wellbeing of mothers in Europe – and the numbers to provide the evidence.
The results so far make interesting reading:
- 58% of women felt that pregnancy/motherhood have prevented them from advancing in the workplace.
- 46% of women felt that they did not have the appropriate information and support immediately before and after the birth of their child.
- 14% of women have been denied access to healthcare or felt like they were discriminated against.

What makes this survey different is that it goes beyond the medical side of things, devoting space to the physical, emotional and social impact of having or hoping to have a family.
